Never had a tamale before. They gave us one for free to try. Fell in love with them. I think I may be spoiled for the next place.

The Best Chilli Cheese Burger Ever!!!

First - great food - normally I don't give out a lot of 5 stars... mostly 4 stars for real good... that said. Ordered the Frito Pie, 6 tamales and a bowl of Chili to share with two of us. The common thing here is the chili - it was on the Frito Pie and inside the tamales. Had a bit of a kick and was great... Seemed to NOT have any fat in the meat - and it had no real liquid. The corn meal in the tamale was just about right and they did not fall apart (but they weren't dry either - just right). Ended up ordering a cup of the Chili to go to freeze and see how it is again a week or so!!Plus as one of the other reviews said - everyone was friendly and talkative. Of course it was the middle of the afternoon and there were no other customers - so there was time.

Great frito pies and tamales, recommending to everyone. Friendly people and atmosphere.

Had a bean and chili burrito and ordered a dozen and 1/2 tamales to go. The 1/2 dozen were gone between Vicksburg and Brandon. This place rates really high on my list. Very nice and friendly staff. I was bound and determined to stop at one of the tamale places rated on the Mississippi Delta tamale route, Hwy 61 from Vicksburg through the Delta. I was not let down! The burrito by the way, was excellent!!

Some of the best I have had, as good as I had in Chicago. Had to get a second dozen to go.

This is a hole in the wall place that all the locals know about. The tamales aren't traditional Mexican tamales, but they are really good. I got the tamale burrito, and I recommend it. It was delicious! And the sweet tea is worth a sip, too. Go support your local restaurant.

Don't be fooled by imitators, this is the original and still best Sollys Tamales. Simple, fresh, amazing!

Seriously Ahhhh-mazzzzz-ing!!! The hot tamales are perfectly seasoned and moist. I also HIGHLY recommend the Fiesta Simply Delicious 😋 we will DEFINITELY be back whenever in Vicksburg....Yum Yum

Good food, fast and friendly service and reasonable prices.

We visited half a dozen hot tamale joints on the Hot Tamale Trail and Solly's ended up being one of our favorites. The guy behind the counter was very friendly and spent time sharing history. The tamales were stuffed with ground beef. Very flavorful, not spicy hot, but a good mix of seasoning. We also discovered as we tasted other tamales on the trail that Solly's tamales seemed to have the right moisture content, not too wet or soupy which we found others to be. It was certainly the best one filled with ground beef which most of them seemed to be.

Their tomales are just fantastic. The perfect level of spicing to the meat, served nice and hot. So good l had to back up for more.

Tamales are wonderful. I would highly recommend getting a burger as well.

I got nothing bad to say!!! Delicious sweet tea, just right tamales, nachos and a whole grain sugar cookie to top it off!! I would stop again in a heartbeat!!

I had wanted to try Tamale"s from Solly"s for a long time, but was never in Vicksburg when they were open, so this past Friday I finally made it... That said, I guess my expetations were just too high, as I was not impressed with their Tamale's. I also swung by the Tamale Place to try there's and of the two I preferred there"s over Solly"s, but only because the dough had a little more moisture in it than Solly"s, otherwise their flavor profile was about the same.

Very good tamales; not too spicy. Chili cheese fries were not my favorite. The owners were great; loved the old building.

Gross! Not even remotely related to Henry Sollys or his family. I wish they would quit riding on the coattails of his legacy. The last time we had tamales from here, the recipe was completely different. Henry didn't offer his business to these scammers, it was taken from his family by shady means. Don't listen to any of the lies that come out of their mouth. The real Sollys family is on the Frontage Rd.

Friendly staff, excellent prices, unpretentious digs - and some delicious tamales. Found this place via the Southern Foodways Alliance tamale trail map (one of the few remaining ones) and was glad to be able to try the tamales there.

Great place to stop along our road trip. Great tamales and very nice staff. 10/10 would stop again.
